Hey @bcbsm.bsky.social, care to explain why you’re denying coverage of a procedure for a breast cancer patient that could significantly lessen the chances their arm blowing up like a balloon for the rest of their life due to lymphedema caused by the removal of lymph nodes?

We should also note that "Dr." Simmons was promoting the idea that DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ) is not cancer back in July. Curiously, it appears she softened her caption since then ("not a medical emergency") but her original disinformation remains in the video.

"Dr." Jenn Simmons, who is promoting disinfo about mammograms in service of her "thermal imaging" company, which is NOT a reliable screening tool for breast cancer (and not FDA-appproved): www.instagram.com/p/DMuyySuR6iu

As someone going through active treatment for breast cancer, I am disgusted by the amount of anti-mammogram content circulating on Instagram right now.

Exhibit 1: this anti-mammogram post @allforthecrunch on Instagram, who has 500k+ followers. www.instagram.com/p/DOFAk1wEv_n/

I usually save this kind of thing for LinkedIn, but what the hell...

I'm excited to announce that I'm diving headfirst into the wild world of independent consulting!

Know any nonprofits or progressive political candidates who need help with digital strategy or fundraising? Call me!

Is it exciting news though? 🫠

Life has been pure chaos lately but nothing beats a long summer weekend in Leelanau County.

Whoa, it's been a while since I last posted here (other than reposts), and I've picked up a few new followers. So it's time for a reintro!

Hi, I'm Sara! 👋 I help political candidates, advocacy organizations, and nonprofits organize & raise money online. I also enjoy writing about music. A lot.

ICYMI, I have breast cancer. I will be documenting my journey on CaringBridge here, as journaling helps, and I hope it makes people facing or dealing with a recent diagnosis less alone: www.caringbridge.org/site/048e239...

I will love you forever and ever my sweet Ziggy boy. I hope you’re having a blast on the other side of the rainbow bridge.

weekend recap: @timheidecker.bsky.social and the Very Good Band (& Neil Hamburger!) on Saturday in Grand Rapids were a soothing balm for these extremely stupid times. They were so damn tight. It was a treat to see them with Wilco’s Mikael Jorgensen on the keys!

Feeling lucky every day this sweet pup is still around. 💗

The winter break was hectic, with lots of family get-togethers and unexpected home repairs, so spending another long weekend in the woods with dear friends was an amazing idea.

Watching the giant lake-effect snowflakes from a hot tub was a religious experience. Is winter...growing on me?!

Not a great way to start the new year: Found out my sweet pup Ziggy has cancer that has spread to both of his lungs. Treatment at his age (and with his heart condition) would be too taxing and not guaranteed. We don't have any idea how much longer we have with him, but we're gonna make it good.
