One of my favorite Howard Ashman rhymes is a blink-and-you'll-miss-it, three-syllable couplet buried in a larger rhyme scheme in "Gaston"

"As a specimen, yes I'm intimidating!"

A perfectly written musical theater couplet. You've got the big picture "coals/souls" rhyme, but in each half of the couplet, there are two subcouplets as well. Syllabic stress+scansion are perfect. Densely rhymed but completely balanced and discernible. Howard Ashman was the GOAT.

The absolute hypocrisy of homophobic Disney executives when if it weren't for the work of a gay man, their entire empire would've collapsed before the end of the 90's!

His name was Howard Ashman.
The Little Mermaid was released 35 years ago today! please remember a gay man who died of AIDS was the lyricist and producer and hugely responsible for all the things you love about the movie!

I know we know this, but “The Wizard and I” is truly one of, if not *the* best ‘I want’ songs in musical theatre canon.
