Yeah, Mirrodin, Affinity, and Broodstar were what got me into Magic!

Oh yeah, Pauper Commander opens up a whole different card pool, with all kinds of weird stuff. Hence Ethersworn Sphinx being one of my favorites. That's not a design you'd see for a legendary.

The rubber bands are all ones I am willing to give away, and many of them were built out of my bulk. The sleeves would be nearly as expensive as some of the decks 🤷‍♂️

Top 5 is hard, since I bounce around like crazy.

Best known for:
Vizkopa Guildmage
Ethersworn Sphinx
Savage Ventmaw

Other commanders I advocate for:
Maverick Thopterist
Wingmantle Chaplain
Winding Constrictor

Pet decks:
Drumhunter
Feywild Caretaker
Satyr Enchanter
Mad Ratter
Gorex

Agreed. I've been staring at Akiri for a while, thinking she could make a great competitive midrange deck. Meanwhile, there's at least tens of different equipment decks that all feel very different to play in mid-power. Some aggro powerhouses, some packing recursion engines, etc

But yeah, both Exdeath and Steiner will make great PDH decks. Fewer/less-powerful board wipes makes voltron strategies so much more viable. Just be sure to pack some edict fodder!

Just noting that you shouldn't trust google AI too much. It says to use regular commander life totals, but pauper commander uses 30 life and 16 commander damage, as opposed to 40/21.

Starting from a bracket 1 mindset and saying you'll limit yourself to commons in the 99 can definitely work, but just restricting yourself to commons without a casual mindset is NOT a sure way to get a bracket 1 or even bracket 2 EDH deck.

No way. There are a lot of PDH decks that can hang in EDH bracket 2, a decent number that can compete in bracket 3, and a few of the most competitive combo PDH decks would belong in EDH bracket 4.
