I don't care for Greenwald at all, but he's not wrong here. I feel like Bluesky had a chance to become the new Twitter, but it took a wrong turn with its hysterical shunning of @jessesingal.com (and, to a lesser extent, of @brianna.bsky.social), thereby ensuring it would just become an echo chamber.

This is creepy. And it's sad that so much of Bluesky approves of it.

One of the more depressing features of the past decade has been seeing how quickly and easily the right abandoned the genuinely good principles it once pretended to care about. Free trade; federalism; free speech. They jettissoned everything they had a point about & kept all the loathesome bits.
Trump and his MAGA movement have mastered the art of projection, accusing the left of doing what they themselves have done. But now, Trump has taken that to a new level, becoming the manifestation of an oppressive state that the right has always warned against. So why aren't more sounding the alarm?
Trump Is The Bogeyman The Right Always Warned Us About
Where is the outrage now that Trump has manifested the right's deepest darkest fears about an oppressive state?

All prohibitionism is the same. Once a brain has sunk into the delusion that it is possible to control others' behaviors and thoughts, and the moral imbecility that it is right and good to impose such controls on others who do not desire it, there is no bottom.

We are seven months in, and the speed with which vital civic institutions are capitulating to authoritarian demands we once would have regarded as inconceivable in an established liberal democracy is jawdropping. I hadn't thought I was polyannaish about America, but it's really stunning.

This is a pretty ridiculous conclusion to draw from the article. All he's saying is that the New York case was purely political, and really was unjustified from a legal perspective. And he's right! You can hate Trump, as I do, and still recognize that fact.

Democratic socialists and other leftists often just cannot be persuaded that capitalism is not, in some way, the final boss of politics, even behind the fascists. But they're wrong, they've always been wrong. Fascism, reaction, these things don't rise out of capitalism, they're distinct.
This is what I mean about worrying about demsocs interpreting the current crisis through a lens of wishful thinking

This is not "ordinary people vs elites" this is America vs the people who hate it. MAGA is a brainrot, not a class
man I'm sorry, I love AOC, but the "oligarchy" thing, where they attempt to fit Trump into the framing of the Bernie 2016 campaign, is just not accurate

Many of the people who fall into the first category referenced here no longer even refer to themselves as libertarians, for what it’s worth, because the second category—and the Libertarian Party—have ruined the label.
There are two kinds of libertarians: Those who oppose the state because they reject hierarchy and oppression, and view the state as the main tool for imposing both, and those who oppose the state because they support hierarchy and oppression and view the state as the main barrier to achieving both.

Called it.
Many people have the naive belief that the courts will stop Trump. Well, what if he just ignores their rulings? The judicial branch doesn't have its own police force. It depends on the executive to enforce its orders, and Trump is purging everyone in the DOJ who isn't loyal to him personally.

Been saying this for years. People are actually dying from lack of organs, all just because people think selling organs is "icky". www.cato.org/blog/legal-m...
A Legal Market for Organs
An alternative approach is to legalize the purchase and sale of organs. This would expand the supply—from living and deceased donors—benefiting both the recipients and the donors.
