Mallorcan but also a bit Basque, and with a pinch of Britishness, a touch of Swedish and some Bosnian for good measure.
Great to see Sid around here again.

Great interview. I also enjoyed the one with Mosquera there other day. He seems like a great lad, and if Gabriel's injury is as bad as it seems, he'll soon get a chance to prove how good he is once again

Tbh it's shocking that they haven't got together with Indonesia and Singapore to play the world's most confusing friendly tournament

Don't care much for international football but Norway's kit might just be the most beautiful football kit I've ever seen. I'll be cheering on them for that reason alone

The way Sinner is utterly untouchable to anyone apart from Alcaraz - and even then only barely vulnerable - is terrifying. How do you beat that kid over 5 sets if you don't have the Spaniard's unlimited arsenal?

Como hacer un Getafe-Levante en Nueva York, entonces?

Tebas, ve apuntando ideas!

You laugh but the jurisprudence on this is clear. In Jones Vs USA the Supreme Court ruled that "government policy in this case is blatantly contrary to the Constitution, but since the President announced the policy in a presidential debate we need to let them roll"

That chart on racist abuse towards footballers is truly shocking. But also, interesting to see Lamine Yamal so far ahead of Vinicius. I can't quite comprehend why that is the case

There's no guarantees in tennis but it certainly feels like Alcaraz will have more success at ATP Finals in his career than Nadal did. The way this lover of natural courts adapts his game to indoor hard courts is so impressive

Unpopular opinion in these parts: she's an absolutely outstanding, once-in-a-generation artist. Even if her music is not really my style.

Her new thing is hit and miss and not as good as El Mal Querer but it's worth a listen in my opinion

Isn't that exactly why Starmer should have been a minister or secretary but reach no higher than that? By all accounts he's quite good at the boring stuff but has absolutely no strategic vision which imo is an absolute requirement for a PM
November 15, 2025 at 6:48 PM
I'm no fan of Pedro Sánchez but it would be worth it just to see the Daily Mail and the Telegraph reacting to his full-hearted defence of immigration
November 15, 2025 at 4:48 PM
Isn't it entirely fitting though? The same cryptobros who totally misread Lord of the Rings as a tale about the importance of racial purity, and misread The Great Gatsby as a book on how great the rich and powerful are, are also seeing Black Mirror and thinking "yeah that looks grand!"
November 15, 2025 at 11:46 AM
It also feels like Labour would have won a large majority even without the silly tax promise, don't you think? This might be hindsight speaking but I suspect Starmer and Reeves were aware that promise would come back to bite them in the arse

it's truly macabre. Posing with them too, as if it wasn't something to be ashamed of.

Very interesting! Also I'm not sure what the data say but my personal experience is that diabetes 2 is also becoming more prevalent among children. Life-threatening, chronic conditions in younger and younger people

I agree with you but I think there's an argument to be made that things are different now.

Trump now close to being a lame duck, unpopular and senile. Surely at some point self-preservation instincts still prevail and supporting Trump will no longer be strategically savvy. Just ask Marjorie T-G

And sadly it would imply giving him a job he's not suited for, despite him being great at other jobs he's done. The political personification of the Peter principle.

(But I agree with you, it doesn't seem insane that he'd end up being the next leader)
November 12, 2025 at 7:06 PM
Oh it's definitely hearsay, I wasn't trying to imply otherwise.

As I stated, there's not enough evidence to be able to point fingers (unless this Italian investigation uncovers something). I was just trying to share the viewpoint of my Bosnian relatives, that's all.
November 12, 2025 at 5:38 PM
And that point about the nerves is so important throughout Alcaraz's career, isn't it? I think he's better the longer a match is, precisely because with every shot he shakes off some rust and nerves.

Generalmente no suelo creer en la teoría del internet muerto. Hasta que entro en Facebook. Me niego a creer que haya humanos posteando esas cosas que veo
November 11, 2025 at 7:06 PM
Among my Bosnian family & friends these human safaris are considered a poorly kept secret. Everyone knows it happened, but sadly not enough evidence to be able to point fingers
November 11, 2025 at 5:38 PM
The (excellent) match really highlighted the extent to which anyone outside of Sinner and Alcaraz has to absolutely redline for an entire match to even come close to their level. It's almost impossible to redline for a whole 2-3 sets, let alone 3-5 at Grand Slams
November 11, 2025 at 5:31 PM
Don't tell me you can't imagine Trump calling Starmer to cry about the way the BBC have treated him, and Starmer then throwing the BBC under the bus in an attempt to preserve the myth that is the Special Relationship®...

The other option is that he's fishing for a settlement. Sure he hasn't got a leg to stand on but that didn't stop others from paying him millions to drop his lawsuits. What good are free speech protections when you're being sued by a man with unlimited power surrounded by yes-men?
