Damn, that was an *intense* match between Hoss & Papayasu! The three-way tie remains (Hoshoryu, Onosato, & Aonishiki all tied at 10-2).

Tobizaru defeats Abi via kekaeshi leg sweep! Sneaky monkey defeats the #2 sumo heel! (Chiyoshoma is always the #1 sumo heel, of course.)

Yoshinofuji beat Onosato yesterday and beats Aonishiki today. Just coming out of nowhere to beat all the front-runners!

Hiradoumi henkas Wakatakakage: okay I'm not really mad about this one.

(Also, sheesh, Hira is having a rough basho; he's been fighting well but this is *not* reflected in his 3-8 record.)

Large Son Atamifuji beats Old Man Tamawashi. Tamawashi is not having a great basho at this rank, but at 41, just being here is a victory.

Large Ukrainian Son Shishi beats scrappy Asakoryu. I like both these guys so it was hard to choose a favorite, but I suppose Shishi needed this more to avoid makekoshi.

Kotoeiho (Gumby) beats Shirokuma (Polar Bear). Shirokuma was looking good for a bit but has faltered lately; he still has a few days left to get his kachikoshi (1 win away!).

Old Man Tamawashi *almost* gets a kinboshi on his 41st birthday, but Onosato stays undefeated. Credit where credit is due, Onosato has really good ring sense and frequently manages to stay in *just* a second longer than his opponent before he goes out.
