The time for careful calculation has passed. It made sense in earlier political moments, but not now. The GOP has called the question. Are we a nation who chuckles when a DHS secretary who shot her dog in a gravel pit makes a joke about alligators ripping the flesh of humans in her custody, or not?

Now that he has gotten away with this (for now I can only hope), there's no saying what he's not capable of. I fear for everyone right now.

Not that I would ever defend Musk, but if I had to work with 47, I would probably self medicate as well.
