Great news: #Tanzania 🇹🇿 has officially declared the end of the #Marburg virus disease outbreak.

Today, the Ministry of Health declared the end of the outbreak after 42 days with no new cases. This is a victory for public health in the country!

Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus is transmitted by specific ticks. Present only south of 50’ latitude so far, global warming could make it move north. Within the German center for infection research (DZIF), @crnlsrhd.bsky.social at Marburg University develops vaccines against this virus.

🧵 WHO informed its Member States and International Health Regulation State Parties of an outbreak of suspected Marburg Virus Disease in the Kagera region of #Tanzania

So far, we are aware of 9 suspected cases incl. 8 deaths across 2 districts.
