Great news: #Tanzania 🇹🇿 has officially declared the end of the #Marburg virus disease outbreak.

Today, the Ministry of Health declared the end of the outbreak after 42 days with no new cases. This is a victory for public health in the country!

Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus is transmitted by specific ticks. Present only south of 50’ latitude so far, global warming could make it move north. Within the German center for infection research (DZIF), @crnlsrhd.bsky.social at Marburg University develops vaccines against this virus.

1. #Ebola: There is a new outbreak, Ebola Sudan, in Uganda. The current index case (who probably isn't the index case) died yesterday. The person was a nurse who sought care in multiple hospitals before dying. Ebola was only determined post mortem.
Possibility of additional cases high.
