Are you planning on a long life?

(or concerned about the life of an elderly or disabled family member, loved one, or friend?)

Perhaps, you should consider what our society pays those who are going to care for you.

The answer today is pretty grim.

A Disability Trust in a Box?

Why can't we have a nice, simple version of a "Special Needs Trust" (with a better name of course)... to help protect the financial assets of disabled people?

The Missing Disability Financial Link?
Can we make Disability Financial Planning Easier? Maybe. Something between an ABLE Account and a roll-your-own Special Needs Trust. This kind of feels "retroactively obvious". What do you think?

Make America Gilded Again

… and right now I’m reading about The Gilded Age and Progressivism (my wife, daughter, and I are reading 3 books, mine is The Age of Betrayal).

Holy cow! What is old is new again.

What the ****** is an IEP actually? (Part 1)

The formal answer is that it is an “Individualized Education Program (not Plan)”… as if that helps.

Disability Politics Hamlet - To Organize or Not To Organize?

As far as I can tell in the US, there are only 5 Democratic Clubs (party-affiliated groups that endorse candidates) in the US focused on #disability.

None for the Republicans (share, I'm happy to be wrong).

Do you know of other report cards like this?

What would you want in one?

Self-Funding Disability

Should we work to self-fund #disability work as a community instead of relying on the fickle interests and handcuffs of old-school philanthropy?

Large groups are likely to fund ... large groups.

Disability financial planning starts in Bizarro-land. Goal 1 is to be Broke-ish so you maintain eligibility for disability services. Then you have to figure out how to both be broke and not broke at the same time.
