Maybe the height standard was set in the days of the penny-farthing.

Oh those bricks just keep one another in place with sand in between them. Pretty easy to lift one or two straight up if you bolt a giant handle to them.

He might have just found the parenting glitch.

Those cargo line motors are considered 250 watt motors as that's their rating for continuous output. The 750 is just the peak rating.
November 2, 2025 at 11:19 AM
I think it's important that the 500 watts should be referencing the maximum continuous power output of the motor. For example the Bosch Cargo Line motors are rated for 250 watts of continuous power output but can also output 600 to 750 watts of peak power when need like when climbing steep hills.

Thanks for sharing the link. I love the bridge. And we should just make a plan to build all the routes!

We were going through Almon and Robie today, a car turned RoR just as we got our 3 second green light, it was yellow by the time we were leaving the curb. It's unreal to me that some "professional" thought this through.

Longdog bike!

There's essentially nowhere legal to park a car on SGR between South Park and Queen yet somehow it's essential that people are able to drive their car through there.

Sadly it looks like those plans are all limited to just scooters.

Did they move the bird bike parking from there? Last time we were there that rack was completely blocked by the bike/scooter share.
September 2, 2025 at 11:19 AM
Ouch! Sorry that happened to you. Hope you make a quick recovery.
August 31, 2025 at 8:48 PM
Oh wow! How is that even possible?
August 30, 2025 at 12:36 AM
I come through there doing the end of day pickup year round and I never ride in the bike lane going past the SUB. Even when it does look clear chances are good that some one will just pull in and block you as you approach.

Last time I tried I ended up having to cross Barrington at the ramp to the bridge and head across that way. It wasn't the worst but wouldn't have gone that way if I had known it was closed off.

Did you notice if you can get over to Nora Bernard, or is that still blocked off?

Have you tried Scooteretti in Canada?

I don't recall what kind of gears were on the Vegas bikes. The riding there was super flat. bsky.app/profile/sbch...
What do you do when work sends you to Las Vegas? Try out their bike share of course! The infrastructure leaves a lot to be desired but $5/day Bosch e-bikes... Yes please!
August 19, 2025 at 6:59 PM
I haven't tried the Bird bikes here yet, I did use the ones in Las Vegas when I was there in December. They were built like tanks, beat up but i wouldn't call them janky. They used Bosch motors with it permanently set to Turbo, same great assist experience as zipping around on the UA or GSD.

Try explaining that one to someone from out of town.
August 18, 2025 at 11:41 PM
From Prince to the Common I'll often use this super obvious (sarcasm) alternate route: Prince St ➜ Barrington St ➜ Blowers St ➜ Around the the old library to the back to cross Brunswick St ➜ Doyle St ➜ Queen St ➜ Artillery Pl ➜ Dresden Row ➜ Annandale St ➜ South Park St.

I feel like it hasn't been working lately too. I'll be waiting a while and then a pedestrian comes along and the light switches as soon as they press the button.

Yeah it's definitely the adhesive, it's not just where the jets are. It started happening last year. I was disappointed to see that it wasn't addressed while the pool was closed at the end of last season. Maybe @lecwhite.bsky.social would know if there's a plan to address it.

Coming from Bell some times I just ride the top of the berm on the grass. As someone who also mountain bikes my risk tolerance for offroading in the urban arrow is probably higher than most. The grass right now, where it's so dry, is smoother than the common paved paths.
August 13, 2025 at 11:47 PM
Yeah it's too bad they couldn't have thrown down a quick crusher dust path beside the sidewalk on Bell to give us somewhere to ride. I assume once that pile of dirt is turned into whatever they have planned for it they may have something.
