Crane parade, you say? Well, why not.

This chonk was directly above my head, stuffing its face, as I stepped off the bus today. I could have reached up and plucked it out of the tree.

Today started poorly and didn’t get much better. I’m hoping this will improve things. It can’t make it worse surely 😁🍌🍌

Long walk out today in the hills above the Hutt Valley with cool views including the snow capped Kaikōura ranges of Te Waipounamu. 2 RSB submissions done by this household over the weekend, so I’m calling it a win all round.

Saw this wee dude on my lunch time walk today. Love that I live in a capital city where the wildlife is so accessible. And yes, it is alive - just having a nap in the sun.

Love that Zealandia never fails to deliver and yet you can see different things every time. The trip up to the wind turbine is worth the hike - shot from a couple of weeks ago.

Hope you had beautiful weather for it. Was grand up here in Pōneke.

I tend to channel more towards this wee guy. And it always makes me vaguely annoyed that it actually works.

First week back at work after 3 weeks off was hard so a 4 day weekend is gratefully received. A walk around the neighbourhood in the early sun is a good start.

I will confess to stealing the photo from a friend on Facebook- her chicken as office supervisor.

The track description said “steep climb” - it wasn’t joking. Took a wee tumble on the way down but lived to tell the tale.

It’s been a smorgasbord of culture today. Started with a bit of Dragon Boat Racing, nipped in to Te Papa to watch some of Te Matatini, then finished with Pipes in the Park, which included fish and chips with proper Edinburgh style chippy sauce. Can’t beat Wellington etc, etc…

Cool skies tonight over the harbour.

Wee trip out to Ōtaki beach - 🏄 for @keithshering.bsky.social and a dip in the sea for me.
February 1, 2025 at 1:15 AM
Made the most of the fact that we live near the sea to actually go in the sea. First dip this summer for me.

Finally some decent weather in Pōneke. Get it while it lasts though - more rain tomorrow.
January 7, 2025 at 3:27 AM
That does sound thoroughly miserable - we’ve just returned from 5 days in Taranaki where it rained almost every day. We saw the maunga once on our first day and never again.

Nearly here.

Rain incoming.
