I've been quietly working on a 30 day collage challenge! Just needed to use my hands on something physical and get out of the computer for a bit.

Been thinking about making 30 day challenge kits where I send out the base paper and a # of magazine images w/nice color schemes 🤔
16 small postcard size collages laid out flat on a table. Most are abstract, only a few have words. They're small enough in the photo that no detail can't really be seen.

I'm running a comics workshop in New Bedford, MA THIS SATURDAY at noon to 3! :D You can register for it on the Rotch Jones Duff Museum House website/calendar!

I'm going BACK TO PAPER and PENCIL!! Got some paper to test what feels nice with pencil AND ink, made and printed a very light comic template that'll fit a 5.5x8.5 page (printer part in half) and I'm EXCITED!!

FINALLY got around to reading several comics, but specifically Uzumaki!! And a # of other #graphicnovel but I'm missing a lot of classics still (like Bone) so what else should I read!

Heat wave reminder: heat exhaustion is very bad and heat stroke/sunstroke is an emergency!

I found a cool bug!!
A close up picture of some leaves and on it is a bug. It's a beetle, mostly black with a bright red outline on its butt and two spots of red on its shoulders. I don't know a lot about bugs. I think it's a scarlet malachite beetle.

The publisher is again telling me my pages are sized wrong and that they don't extend to the bleed.

They sent me this screenshot to show how...they just...cut off the image????????? OF COURSE IT DOESN"T GO TO THE BLEED WHEN YOU CUT IT OFF.

I'M GOING TO LOSE MY MIND.
Two versions of the same image, which is a few scattered puzzle pieces that extend off the page at t he right and bottom edges. On the left the image is a screenshot of the page placed in a layout software. The page doesn't extend to the bleed line, but there are simply parts of the image missing. On the right side is the original image, which clearly extends further. This makes the claim that the image doesn't fit very confusing. Of course the image doesn't fit when you cut off pieces.

Potion Ingredients zine! Prob the most recent pencil drawings I've done and they were SO enjoyable! (cover isn't pencil, but interiors were).

I printed them on this cool plant textured greenish paper and they were a HUGE pain :'D the ink didn't absorb well so a lot of them smudged :(

In the center is a stylized cauldron with three nubby legs, and some fire or possible smoke (it's up for interpretation) coming out of it. The style is clean lined ink and there's minimal hatched shading. A pencil illustration of a unique looking glassware. The base is flat, but the rest is perfectly spherical, there's a spout coming out of it similar to something you might find on a teapot. Inside the glass sphere is a clear liquid of some kind and sitting on the bottom is a leech. Small bubbles rise from the leech.

I got a BUNCH of indie comics from silver sprocket in January (I think they were having a sale?), can't wait til this project is over and I can read them!! 😂

They're all pretty short, it's so goofy to not have time!

Great news! Among SO many Norway Maples in the backyard, there is ONE SUGAR MAPLE, like a real one, not a baby!
Bad news! I think it's over the border in the neighbors yard... :/

Oh well, at least my hickory and lil oak are doing their best! (it looks droopy, but it's just the leaves being new)

Coming two at a time now! Inspired by Wall-e and Jaws we've got Marry and Vows. I imagine you'd put your partner's face really big on the vows one instead of the shark. These might have worked better for wedding invitations?

So a few years ago I was brainstorming table names for my wedding, and I just found some ideas I had that I still think are HILARIUOS. Couldn't quite make em work (reception doesn't really make sense as a table name) but if someone else is inspired for their wedding planning I would be delighted!
