Poem: Ode to Rubble (Jan 20th 2025 by Sav Miller) I did not wake up in this form. I woke up encased in marble, suffocating in the stiffness of my skin. I held my breath in the dark for days, weeks, months, years. I could not wait for a patient sculptor to carve me fully formed from this shell. Instead, I cut myself free from the inside, ripped through stone and sinew, clawed and scraped and stretched until the rubble collapsed around me. I am my own masterpiece, chipped and pockmarked, resilient to the weathering of time. Someday, I may crumble into rubble and silt, but no clumsy craftsman could ever confine me to marble again.
