Had a completely distracting day playing with the image zoom feature in The Lydiard Archives curating our new collection "St.John Jewellery: Pearls to Paste". It's been perfect. #EarlyModern #History #Skystorians #17thC #Jewellery

Can anybody recommend any books or articles on early modern cavalry or dragoons? I'm especially interested in horses and training #earlymodern #militaryhistory

Mid 2010 Hipsters nerding out about buying records

Me in the mid 2020s nerding out about finding somewhere that sells CDs.

Not sure I'm near as cool. 😂

Ghosts of Advent Day 11- A Wicked Voice by Vernon Lee

A composer becomes haunted by the 'ghost' of a dead singer, his obsession growing with every passing day...

There might not be a real 'ghost' in this short story, but it's haunting all the same!

I do miss being able to do polls so that I can ask everyone which Victorian novel most demands a muppet adaptation, and then a follow up poll about which character would be the token human 🤔

I'm working on a project and need some help. Who are famous English majors? Bonus points if they are young enough that first year students would recognize the names.

The lists I'm finding online are a little bit dated

A crazily niche question and possibly a big ask, but does anyone know a social historian we might be able to talk to about 1910s-20s (manual worker) wages, costs of living, and the practical implementation of the 1911 National Insurance Act??

Lately I've noticed people asking if patterns of writing are a symptom of AI. (Example 3 pronged thesis.) But those patterns were present before AI, and the AI likely trained on those patterns to reproduce them.

It's a little circular.

It's out! 'Migrant Voices in Multilingual London, 1560-1600', open access in Transactions of the Royal Historical Society. Read to find out how insults and information moved between the city's languages, and to think about how linguistic diversity shaped urban life. www.cambridge.org/core/journal...

Early modern music people - a (probably) dumb question, but dabbling in a heretofore unfamiliar field: are there recommendations for EM manuscript music EEBO-esque databases? Have been using RISM and think I have found something interesting but want to be sure I'm not missing anything obvious! 🎵🎶🎵
