Attorney at Law (parody, obv)
“Never been used” doesn’t mean “cannot be used” It doesn’t take a law degree to understand the plain text of the legislation.

But he also doesn’t need to forgive it all at once, as my post noted, they just need to keep making progress and soon.
February 21, 2024 at 5:32 PM
Because Biden used the HEROES Act as his legal justification, when every expert noted that the Higher Education Act is a much stronger law.

The Higher Education Act (HEA) 1965 gives the Secretary of Education the authority to “compromise” or “modify, waive, or release” student debt obligations.
February 21, 2024 at 5:31 PM
Great. Now just 85% more borrowers to go. Can/will Democrats do it before election day?
February 21, 2024 at 5:28 PM
Jesus Christ, the sheer audacity that’s on display is astounding. You’re still the one that’s wrong, but now I’ll be nasty about it too.

Are you too fucking stupid to read what I posted? I’m NOT talking about the HEROES Act, I specifically cited the Higher Education Act. SCOTUS never ruled on HEA.

Embarrassing to accuse me of lying just because you can’t fathom for a second, that maybe the people in charge weren’t doing everything possible for regular people.
February 21, 2024 at 4:57 PM
You probably should do some research before you accuse me of lying.

“The Higher Education Act (HEA), which was first enacted in 1965 gives the Secretary of Education the authority to “compromise” or “modify, waive, or release” student debt obligations.
The White House should admit that student debt forgiveness isn’t happening
There’s still time to help student debtors before loan repayment begins — but it means changing course.

Very good, assuming that progress continues.

Assuming Biden gets more bold with his forgiveness, (there are only so many special categories you can put ppl into.)

Also assuming Biden’s popular enough to win another four years.

Also assuming the next GOP Pres won’t just halt all of the SAVE plans.
February 21, 2024 at 4:52 PM
Oh okay my apologies, so 13.95%, better, but that still leaves more than 85% of people without forgiveness.
February 21, 2024 at 4:47 PM
That’s 1.82% btw, not even 2% of this country’s population has had their lives improved by these measures.
February 21, 2024 at 4:43 PM
If you think that 6,000,000 out of 330,000,000 people is significant, then you’re being fooled by numbers.
February 21, 2024 at 4:42 PM
There’s older legislation that the Biden admin can use to support mass-forgiveness.
February 21, 2024 at 4:29 PM
And I think a lot of people who really support Biden, get really upset when criticism is levied against him, because it seems disingenuous or misinformed. But the reality is, for most struggling people, these benefits never reach them.
February 21, 2024 at 4:27 PM
I think it comes down to everyone talking past eachother. I think a lot of people who criticize Biden understand and acknowledge the things the WH has done for them. Unfortunately, due to a variety of reasons, this progress is not reaching everyone fast enough. So, many people feel abandoned.
February 21, 2024 at 4:26 PM
It’s like pointing to the stock market to explain to people who can’t afford rent that “things are going really well for the economy.”

They’re not gonna buy that, whether it’s true or not because from their POV, they’re still struggling.
February 21, 2024 at 4:24 PM
This seems to be the norm for people who had their debt forgiven.

The system is still broken.
February 21, 2024 at 4:19 PM
SCOTUS didn’t say Biden couldn’t forgive debt, SCOTUS said Biden couldn’t use COVID-Era legislation to forgive debt. There’s a big difference.
February 21, 2024 at 4:17 PM
Please stop walking away with the least charitable interpretation of what people are saying. I think people are right to be upset that only a small percentage of loans have been forgiven.

It doesn’t mean people aren’t grateful, some people just want to vent and that’s okay too!
it’s also almost like 1.2 billion is a tiny percentage of 1.8 trillion though
February 21, 2024 at 4:14 PM
So Biden can tell Arab-American voters that he tried, when we all know he will continue to arm and fund this genocide

Genocide(r) Joe

“he restored sight” let’s not get biblical here, he paid for people with cataracts to have surgery. a very good deed, but not something that needs to be shown for the world as entertainment.

isn’t there a bible verse or two about doing good deeds in private? more people should listen
February 20, 2024 at 1:57 PM
crazy how people don’t see it this way. wealthy people have been degrading poor people with the promise of money for centuries
