I want to hear the marginalized voices. I want to center them and work to uplift them. That work can’t be done in an aggressively unsafe space.

When friends ask me if I’m worried about being in an echo chamber and losing touch with what is being said in these spaces - the answer is no. There’s a difference between being aware and being safe; between being aware and feeding the hate machine. The loudest voices will continue to be heard.

Absolutely. And what I list as 3 might be a solid book for me but seem low to another. I appreciated the move completely away from subjective ratings that don’t convey the full picture.
