Just finished the audio of Strength. So good. I was going to skip Will bc I thought his other series went off the rails in book 2 after a good start. But Strength delivered. And now the long wait for the conclusion.

Even those investment numbers need to be examined alongside the layoff ledgers. Some of that money would have been spent elsewhere and all they're doing is moving one expense line to another.

Was at DFW once when they clearly didn’t have any tornado plans. Was weird to see to gaps in preparation.

Adding that seems like the knitting space, w/out a pattern infrastructure like sewing used to have, has always been indie. My mom used to pick up these mass-produced pattern leaflets but they weren’t from a McCalls pattern factory equiv. Also thinking of patterns passed down in families.

Thanks. Genuinely curious. In the music industry, indie often refers to artists that are not on major labels, so a nod to people doing creative work outside mainstream tastes. Could also mean a corp vs self-employed situation in other contexts. Lately I’m wondering if something is human vs ai slop.

PS yes, I am alternating skeins of the dark green so 2 colors and 3 balls. Of “sticky” yarn. Can’t decide if this is keeping my mind sharp or slowly eroding my sanity. TBD

If you can’t get to Iceland, while it’s not lopi, Nanne Kennedy’s Seacolors has a similar rough texture and she’s using an interesting solar process + fixing the color with seawater. Her colors remind me of late 80s Benetton tho rustic at the same time. getwool.com

This is my first Ailbíona McLochlainn project. What attracted me was the contemporary motif that still manages to feel a bit “heritage” at the same time. I rarely choose the recommended yarn for things but lopi is kinda weird, so good to pick a pattern designed for it.

Hespa is located not far from Reykjavik. You could def run over there on an Iceland layover. I also saw some of Guðrún’s yarns in a few shops in town as well. But it’s cool to go to the studio.
