UK deaf, left wing, humanist, working towards fully retiring asap having done my 40 odd years but no state pension yet. Ironic name as it’s so bloody difficult to do these days. But I’m trying.
On 19 November, the Times ran a ‘news’ piece on the demonstration in Westminster by farmers opposed to changes to inheritance tax. Obviously reporting the news is good, but reading such a one sided piece made me think it belonged in the comment pages www.thetimes.com/uk/environme...

The royal family is supposed to be non political. So the govt asking William to meet him is extremely weird. But then if I was in the govt I’d get someone else to do that for me too.

Would be nice if “more vocal about immigration” meant explaining why it is essential to the U.K. economy and public services - and why free movement would strengthen Britain’s alliances

How depressing that Labour MPs think the answer is being ‘more vocal about immigration’. They could try advocating for investment in the regions to deliver prosperous, sustainable communities. Playing to the immigration trope is dangerous, defeatist and does nothing to actually restore hope.
