Children are dying because of the USAID cuts. And more will die when the aid cuts that other donors have announced will kick in and when the rippling effects of the shutdown of malnutrition-, vaccination- and antenatal care programs will be felt.

So true and so sad @nickkristof.bsky.social
Elon Musk says that no one has died because he slashed humanitarian aid. I went to South Sudan to check if that's true. It's not. Meet Peter, Achol and Evan, ages 10, 8 and 5. The reckless actions of the world's richest men are killing the world's poorest kids www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

What is an important fact about the world that you wish more people would know?

Here is my answer: If we rely on the best data, many of us can save a child's life.

Many of us can save a child’s life, if we rely on the best data
There are many ways to improve the world, but their cost-effectiveness varies immensely. You can achieve a lot more if you rely on the best data on where to donate.

The world is awful. The world is much better. The world can be much better.

All three statements are true at the same time. Understanding this is key to solving big global problems.

We believe data & research can help us understand both the problems we face & the progress that’s possible. 🧵
