What we're seeing in real time is the deployment of a Secret Police tasked with terrorizing those who live in communities insufficiently subservient to the regime. It's a form of spectacle violence designed undermine the rule of law & any semblance of accountability.
Today at 34 & Park in Minneapolis, a woman tried to drive down the street where a protest had broken out in front of a home ICE was raiding, saying she had a doctor apt to get to. ICE agents busted out her windows, cut off her seatbelt, and pulled her out before arresting her.

Peter Malinauskas' version of compassion is anti-Palestinian racism, and trashing a 65 year old writers festival.

Try harder, or that defamation case is going to hit you like a brick

All Peter Malinauskas' words about Randa Abdel-Fattah are a false equivalence, ignoring the dynamic of oppressed and oppressor. Palestinian resistance is legal and justified. Israeli genocide is not. I've seen far too many dead kids to tolerate any of this racist, moronic dribble.

Solidarity with Louise Adler and Randa Abdel-Fattah. We stand against this retrograde decision and with the countless authors withdrawing in support of Randa and her work.

I am very sad that Louise Adler is resigning from her position at AWW, but you must read her words in this exceptional piece:

"AWW is the canary in the coalmine. Friends and colleagues in the arts, beware of the future."

"They are coming for you."

I cannot be party to silencing writers, which is why I am resigning as director of Adelaide Writers’ Week | Louise Adler
Cancelling the Australian Palestinian author Randa Abdel-Fattah weakens freedom of speech and is the harbinger of a less free nation

It's "culturally unsafe" to have a Palestinian Aus author advocate against the systematic slaughter of hundreds of thousands of her people, but it's
"a good thing" for the president of apartheid Israel, which has committed daily massacres and mass starvation for 2yrs, to visit us. Unbearably racist.
