Can you imagine someone from the American south saying this?
Weird.

The annoying part is finding different files with similar histories that I have to combine and re-write.
I found one reference I had no idea who it belonged to. Tracking that down was tiring.

I realized I didn't have a detailed file on an antagonist, so I used various sources to create one.
Sometimes, I forget that the files in my head aren't on my computer.

But the hardest thing is keeping their histories, and when they intersect, intact and accurate.
Still fun though.

Today: Set in late Victorian Era London, a team of unusual individuals solve mysteries outside Scotland Yard's purview.
It's X-Files, Penny Dreadful & steampunk.
I do enjoy generating ideas & characters inspired by turn-of-the-20th century sci-fi, pulp heroes, & history.

Although not "finished", it is finished enough to leave it be and move onto other things.
The pic is an old one from my Writing Lair, but I always have observers, & pop culture-y things, watching me work.

Melded 2 different ideas. One was an ancient underwater civilization populated by mythological sea creatures, based on the Greek & Maori. The other, prehistoric kaijus seeking a home for their dying culture.
Plenty of research & development.
A good day!

THAT, to me, is vital.

The idea I had this morning, I wrote down so I wouldn't forget, and...
promptly went on a side quest to fill in some back story for the idea.
Tomorrow, Productivity is a go!
Writing new blog.
Work on the antagonist idea.
Then holiday Monday: vegging!

Fleshed out a major antagonist & updated related details.
Discovered I had changed a character's name, but forgot why! Hahaha!
I eventually got the info on the character... and realized I didn't like the name. Found a better name that's easier to say and pronounce... and spell.

When doing research for an idea, especially one set in the past, it is always intriguing to learn about history, and how much we really don't know... thus making it prime material and setting for a sci-fi/ alternate history story!

I've been doing it for a while and sometimes, I come up with better ideas, or something that adds more depth.
The downside, is when I discover discrepancies.
Today was "discover discrepancies" day!
To be fixed... tomorrow.

Today's bad guy went from some muscle-bound career criminal into a more relatable monster... a charismatic racist with a cult following who can channel extra dimensional evil.
His first name is Donald... hahaha, but that's where the similarities end.

Needed a dictionary of my made-up words, so I started that today.
Updated a character, his history & added notes to the file to update/ create new supporting characters. Also scouted some real-world locations & history of the Aboriginal people nearby.
