No one is coming to help.

This woman was assaulted and illegally detained by unnamed, unbadged goons. Yes, we've got their faces on video. No, no one will dare to prosecute them. Not in Idaho, not at the FBI or DOJ.

We're on our own. This is Trump's world now, and this is how we'll live in it.
There's going to be news about a woman illegally detained and being forcely removed from a Coeur d'Alene Idaho Town Hall meeting taking place at the high school by men that would not identify themselves wearing plain clothes because she opposed the republican viewpoints.

Shock and awe tactics rely entirely on momentum. But momentum is very easy to lose. Because they don't have any mass behind them -- law/ facts/people are NOT with them -- Trump + Elon depend on stunning velocity and the dull inertia of Americans to launch their agenda. This is their entire plan. /1

FAFO.

Unfortunately, it's the kids who are at the mercy of their parents' stupidity.

I paid for college with Pell Grants, Stafford loans, and California state scholarships -- and became a semi-expert on the rights guaranteed by IDEA while raising a neurodivergent kid.

The Dept of Education touches every household in this country, even the ones without kids.
The main beneficiaries of the Department of Education are disabled kids (IDEA) and working-class and poor Americans (Title I, Pell Grants, work assistance), so of course Trump wants to do away with it.

At the rate they're torching the Constitution (about one article or amendment per month so far), it seems plausible that I will not be voting in the 2028 election. And no other women will be, either. They'll get to the 19A sooner rather than later.

Really grateful to 2004 me for having the foresight to get Canadian permanent residency back when it was still possible.

Why is YouTube serving me video of the "City and County Mayors Joint Statement on Solid Waste" from Murfreesboro TN?

Town dump vids from the other side of the US may be fascinating to a certain kind of wonk -- but I'm not that wonk.

It's proof that my plan to confuse the algo is def working, tho.

Give him Rachel's chair when her 100 days are up.
Good morning and Happy Tuesday to everyone who agrees that Jim Acosta was one of the few watchable journalists on CNN before they let him go, and MSNBC should prioritize hiring him to replace Andrea Mitchell or Katy Tur.

Or BOTH.

So much for "don't be evil."

I've lived an almost entirely Google-free life for years now. It's doable -- almost everything they offer can be found somewhere else,

Sold our Model S last week. No more overhyped Nazimobiles for us. For the record: FSD is a lie, Tesla "service" is total fiction, and I'd much rather have a car that runs CarPlay than Tesla's OS.

It was a blast to drive. But I won't miss it.

Replacement will be a Volvo XC60 plug-in hybrid.
Tesla Model 3 surprise redecorated on the street in Austria, Vienna. Acts of resistance against Musk products and businesses increasing worldwide, especially in Europe.

And I invite everyone to join me here instead.
Had to login on my laptop but all Meta accounts are logged out!

Not posting much because we're moving house(es), and getting everything packed up and ready in time is taking every waking moment we have.

We've lived here 13 years. It's a lot of stuff. This is our Death Cleaning. Dumping two lifetimes of crap is glorious!

Back in the 'sky after the 17th.

During his first term I attended a surreal city council meeting where they gave a beloved member of the community an award just after he’d gotten a deportation order.

Guy had American kids and owned a restaurant the employed 5 people.

It closed and nothing has opened in that space since.
That includes the violent mass detention/deportation of long-settled immigrant contributors like Dreamers, parents of US citizen children, and US military spouses: open.substack.com/pub/zacharym...

A reminder: be careful with block lists. I just learned that a lot of you aren't seeing my posts because someone I follow is in such bad odor here that even their followers are being blocked.

So much for Bluesky as our new liberal haven for free speech. The Twitter-style witch hunts are ON. Sad!

"Those who make peaceful evolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable." -- JFK
I am going to state this as clearly as I can: if you address systematic iniquities THROUGH POLITICS, no one will fantasize about solving them through violence. FDR is thus the hero of this story for addressing systematic iniquities THROUGH POLITICS.

Tell me if I am not clear.

Evan's been doing a daily post of the Chad Mitchell Trio -- a classic early-60s political folk group that was more biting than Tom Lehrer, and more harmonic than the Limiters.

I'm going to start re-posting them. They're an important part of our liberal heritage -- and they're FUN.

There's something deeply, deeply wrong with us. Two weeks in Europe has just brought that home, hard. So did this article from the excellent Jess Piper.

We’re in Zürich and the local businessmen in Santa Lucia Paradeplatz with us are mostly eating about a 14” pizza for lunch. All of it. With wine. And they’re mostly quite lean (and better dressed than Americans would be).

In Switzerland, Santa tours on a Harley. Because if you're in the toy biz, why not have the best toys the world has to offer?

Seen on the Bahnhofstrasse, Zurich. I believe Santa is, in fact, drinking Swiss cocoa, which is also the best the world has to offer.
