Also to situate this in context, a bookstore selling more than 20 copies of my last book means they want to host an event with me for my next one. Each book purchase is hugely influential. If you can give the gift of books this season, do it please.

I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

This is correct, except For Good makes three.

You could do that, sure. Or you could just be more credulous and realistic about the cost vs benefit of AI in the workplace.

You want to redesign entry level jobs and the education system to accommodate the flaws inherent in senior management thinking they can save money for a year by using insufficient AI systems to replace people whose jobs they don't actually understand?

This is such ludicrously short-term thinking. The obvious response to that line is, AI can do THIS job, but it can't do the job three levels up, which requires 3 levels' worth of experience. They're creating their own black holes.

Literally the worst. Of all series in all languages. Worse than Australia season 2

My one and only take is that I'm surprised at how brazen a rip-off of Aftersun it is

I feel this way too – I was surprised by how narrow the window is. And will it lead to a ballooning of middle grade and a shrinking of pre- and post-? I think it's brilliant and I'm so glad it's happening, but I'd be feeling pretty gutted if I'd written a perfect book for 6 and 7 year olds!
