To prison!
for vagrancy, loitering, trespassing,
for not owning property
the government can monetize.

To prison!
for panhandling, laundering, aborting,
for finding ways to survive
the rulers will not advertise.

If They cannot find a way
to tax it, fine it, sue it,
your existence will be terrorized.

If you are not spending money
or making money-spenders,
how can They monopolize?

The more hands there are,
the more exchanges,
the more powerful They will arise

to tyrannize.

This is my Carmen Sandiego appreciation post.

I love what her creators wanted to achieve in the late 1980s: to teach American children geography in an engaging, memorable way. Our education system unfortunately remains woefully inept, and thanks to current events, we are taking strides backward.

areolas eclipse the moon that used to guide me,
