Minneapolis, nonsense, higher ed, tech, genealogy, and Minnesota in general. PhD in education. Have been called “secretly nice.” Saved a child care center, ran a tech conference. I make excellent pierogi and strudel.
Grad students, adjuncts, and contract faculty need so much more protection and it should have happened a very long time ago.

It’s an indictment of university administrators and processes that they haven’t figured out how to not get ceaselessly exploited by people whose primary skills are whining and manipulation.

What happens if this grad student, put on leave, is found to “violate” something? Do they lose the tuition coverage teaching provides? Do they lose the health care? The pittance of a salary?

Over a student who writes like someone put a bible study group discussion in a ChatGPT blender?

This problem has been growing for quite a few years. Faculty have to work on protections for adjuncts and grad student instructors. They cannot be left to these wolves.

This also makes me angry because this incredibly unprepared student is targeting the instructors with a right wing machine—the instructors are *grad students* and are vulnerable.

I’ve been avoiding making dough for pierogi and strudel. I need to get off my phone and be like you.

This sounds like a delightful read!

No, it’s a delicious (and decidedly unhealthy) mix of cream cheese, heavy whipping cream, and sugar that you spread on the strudel dough and roll up and bake.

It still does very poorly for mixed language documents (at least what I’ve tested). But the overall actual utility of something like FamilySearch’s full text search is pretty amazing now because of the handwriting results.

Apparently.

MPD’s “thumpers” rep goes back at least 70 years—because that’s how my St. Paul-born father described them.
