A 99% drop in hepatitis B The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) first recommended vaccinating all babies against hepatitis B at birth in 1991. Since then, chronic hepatitis B infections in children and adolescents have fallen by 99%. A study published in 2022 found that US children who received the vaccines as newborns were 22% less likely to die from any cause. The universal birth dose of hepatitis vaccine "has been incredibly effective," said Ravi Jhaveri, MD, head of infectious diseases at Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. "The US is in many ways is an envy of the world because we have been able to do this." Since 1991, the universal HBV birth dose has prevented more than 500,000 childhood infections and prevented an estimated 90,100 childhood deaths, according to a joint statement from the American Public Health Association and 72 public health experts that was submitted as a public comment in response to an upcoming meeting of the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP).

I want to highlight the section that is exactly why I think chiropractors operate with far too much certainty.

Pain clinics do not just hand out opioids. In fact, they do everything possible to work with people to find other solutions (sometimes to the patient’s detriment).
Chiropractor Carron Perry said her treatments have reduced her patients' needs for opioid painkillers, but she worries that some will now return to those drugs. Minnesota has been mired in a drug overdose epidemic, which had its roots two decades ago in patients who developed addictions or dependencies to prescription painkillers. Overdose deaths have declined for two consecutive years, but remain a concern. "If people are just going into urgent care or hospitals or pain doctors, I mean, they use opioids a lot," Perry said. Her Discovery Chiropractic clinic in St. Paul is booked in December with patients using up Medicaid benefits.

The “dress up on airlines” comments are so ridiculous on their face, but they make me so mad because flying is just awful now compared to 30 years ago. I know because I’m old and flew 30 years ago. Everything is smaller now and it’s literally painful.

You can’t see it like this with your eyes in the city, but it’s like a subtle smudge. But when you just open the camera the aurora is very clear even in the city.

Morris offered a "Resolution of Thanks" to Mayor Van Lear before the Minneapolis Sunday Forum for his action against "The Birth of a Nation," which was carried unanimous-ly. Attorney Morris was delegated to deliver the resolution to the Mayor. He did. He has not been permitted to speak at many meetings held by his political opponents, who term him "disloyal." He has the "loyalty" that stands the test in every way. We have no quarrel with the Big Interests or the Common People. We are not proving ungrateful to the man who has given us more recognition than his predecessors. His record is good, and he could have done better, but for the unnecessary handicaps placed upon him by those who should have assisted him. Can you afford to do other in assisting in re-electing our friend MAYOR THOMAS VAN LEAR to succeed himself? Answer by your ballot on November 5th!

Today I write with a heavy heart because I have arrived at the conclusion that City of Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey lacks the intrinsic leadership, effective due diligence, and moral resolve to pursue community safety for all Minneapolis residents - especially as it relates to domestic, intimate partner, and gun violence. I arrive at this conclusion because on October 22, I had a deeply troubling and unproductive meeting with Mayor Frey and City of Minneapolis executive leaders. Later that evening, my worst fears were validated: City of Minneapolis Auditor reported that MPD has not cooperated and has delayed the long overdue After-Action reports for two murders last year.

Among the students, one is being carried—both legs in braces from ankle to thigh and holding her crutches (likely polio). Two others are being wheeled out on sitting in desks adapted with wheels due to some sort of mobility challenge, I’d guess polio but it’s less obvious.

OFFICER CHOKES PRISONER THOMAS O'DEA MAKES A PROTEST. His Abusive Language Causes Him to Be Also Arrested. Incensed at what he believed to be ill treatment of a prisoner in the hands of Policeman Williams, Thomas O'Dea, son of Martin O’Dea, the contractor, sought to interfere last night, and as a result he was also placed under ar-rest. Chief O'Connor allowed him to go on the promise that he would return to central station at 9 o'clock this morning. The trouble grew out of the arrest of T. M. Conrad at the corner of Cedar and Seventh streets. A woman complained to the policeman that she had been insulted by several men. The gang was invited to move and all complied except Conrad, who insisted on remaining. The result of the argument was that he was taken to the patrol box on Minnesota street between Seventh and Eighth streets. While the policeman and his prisoner were waiting for the patrol wagon a crowd collected. Williams held his man by the collar to prevent escape. Some of the men in the crowd complained about this and O'Dea insisted that the prisoner was being choked. It is claimed that he grew so abusive in his protestations that his arrest was warranted and that when Williams attempted to grab him he struck at the officer several times. Policeman Carroll came up at this time and assisted in making the second arrest. Conrad is charged with disorderly conduct while O'Dea is accused of resisting an officer. Both will appear in court this morning.
