✨Fun fact: We were also threatened with sanctions by university officials if we went forward with publishing our reporting about a Title IX investigation, possibly suspending us or withholding our degrees. Eventually, we had to seek counsel with various First Amendment lawyers.

Additionally, @isabelguzman.bsky.social and I placed as a finalist in the Investigative Reporting category for our coverage of an elected member of MSU Denver’s student government who was accused of sexually harassing women and various other inappropriate behaviors.

With this win, our reporting will go on to compete on the national level among other Mark Of Excellence winners from the 12 SPJ regions later this spring!

Our team won first place in Society of Professional Journalists Region 9 awards for our coverage of the pro-Palestine protest that lead to the arrests of 40 people at @msudenver.bsky.social.
