A great thread about an astonishing naval battle! For me, the battle of Quiberon is also a perfect example of why we should reconsider how we think about naval battles and commanders. Let's face it: Hawke was lucky that his daring decision to follow the French worked out in his favour.

Personally, I can’t remember what exactly sparked my interest. Probably my history classes at school and some historic youth novels, mainly on 20th century German history.
