So your post led me down a little rabbit hole. I discovered that we only have cosmos flowers because of the Anglo Boer war, who knew? Apparently the seeds hitched a ride on the fodder for the horses. Crazy stuff.

Whenever we see the Cosmos here it means Autumn is around the corner. Does it also grow on the side of the road and parks? Here it's seen as weed, we don't really plant it in our gardens. Here's a photo of Delta park in 2022 by Shirley Tebbutt

I was chatting to a friend and he has family in Cyprus, apparently they also have loadshedding but there's no schedule, so you can't plan and you don't know how long you're off. Here we have an app, you know your block, on lower stages it's 2 hours off at a time higher stages 4 hours.

Thank you so much, you are such a lovely friend. Loadshedding is no fun but it is what it is. The day was brilliant actually, nothing fancy, but good food and really good company. I hope you have a brilliant day ❤️

Today is also my birthday. It has been a good day. Richard ordered me books. I got to teach at my favourite school and we're having curry for dinner. Before dinner we'll have a drink on the patio and feed the birds.

This is true. I let the nurse at the vet borrow 2 of my books in November. I know that Dec is their busiest time but I worry that she's forgotten about them. I would like them back but I'm not sure how to let her know without sounding obsessive compulsive.

Rob, I keep saying, we don't want him either. I'm thinking we send him to the sandwich islands and he can hang out with penguins, although knowing him, he'd find a way to piss off the penguins too.

I can help and give you some non political people/ pages to follow. Also having said that you need to take care of you and do things to protect yourself. It is very scary right now for everyone and I'm not even American.
