Agreed.
Coatings do nothing for broken pipes.

I support your journey in challenging the standards, that seems to be the problematic area of concern. In my own journey I have learned that rewriting the standards is the key to change. With water that lands with Health Canada.

I am not able to validate or invalidate the status of asbestos. Our admin stated they have been testing for asbestos since 2016 and the results are non-detect. They confirmed if there was an issue Orthophosphate would have positive impact on the risk of asbestos entering the water.

I’ll do that.
My intent was only to share the results of my inquiry about the effect of orthophosphate. I acknowledge that it’s not the ideal solution for lead or other. It is better than status quo, and it would offer a bit of a mitigation.

Those standards could be wrong, the information I received might be wrong. I don’t have the expertise and I am not in the position to challenge them.
Orthophosate is coming and it won’t be a solution for pipe replacement for lead or other things, but it does help, and I thought that was good news.

My intention wasn’t to invalidate your concerns. I was curious about Orthophospoate and its interaction with asbestos. I have had a journey with learning about health concerns, and standards. I don’t have the expertise to know what is and is not acceptable, and I have to rely on canada standards.

I looked into it and when orthophosphate is added and creates an internal coating it would be preventive to fibers entering. Since we have a non detectable amount of asbestos it would be neutral to positive to any perceived health threat.

Part 2, is a report and those are potential ideas for admin to look into.
