Personally, as someone who grew up doing fanfiction, TTRPGs, and my own stories all at once, I use the term "OC" to describe my own characters in an established or published story. So basically, fanfiction & fandom spaces only. Anything else is just "my characters." 🤷‍♀️

I don't go on Twitter much anymore but you're absolutely right. I will say, it's a little entertaining to see people reply with "@grok is this true?" under every Trump Does Predictably Bad Shit news story.

Honestly, it's saved me from putting money in games that people end up dropping quickly or getting disappointed with lol. When I'm into a game, I'm INTO it, so it's just better for my heart to wait to make sure the game will have lasting impact.
