Everyone gets the credit each year; we figure it evens out since some years we may take on more than average research advising, and some years less.

It varies by department but it is for us. We use a placeholder course number. Since the block system is one class at a time, it maybe makes it easier to do this since we work out our fte load one class at a time.

We get one “research advising” teaching credit a year, which sort of compensates for the year round research mentoring.

I use a glacier erosion model and a 2d Landlab model in geomorph. We run it using jupyterlab…can’t remember the specifics right now but it worked well for a soph-juniors class with no math prereq
