The British Library's Medieval Women In Their Own Words exhibition brought joy to my heart. Highlights: a whole damn section on female rulers, liberal quantities of Hildegard von Bingen, and finding out that I swear enough to be suspected of witchcraft.

It's very rare I'm giddy about sacrificing a night's sleep, but sometimes you just have to go to an all-night Lord of the Rings marathon and be one of the happiest people there.
