Fewer cars, better for everyone (yes, even drivers)
Congestion pricing was designed to finance more than $15 billion in critical transit upgrades in New York City. Those investments will take years. But the parallel changes at street level are already apparent. Here’s what we know so far. nyti.ms/4mbuGg0

Liked everything about this article, especially this insight, which I think is underappreciated: “Patients are much more likely to accept conservative treatment if they know they can reliably contact the treating clinician.”
Negotiating With Patients About Tests, Referrals, and Treatments
This JAMA Insights discusses how physicians can engage in successful clinical negotiation if a patient requests a test or treatment that is deemed inappropriate, potentially harmful, or low-value.

“Dr. Means… left surgery behind without finishing her training to practice so-called functional medicine… She published a diet and self-help book last year titled ‘Good Energy: The Surprising Connection Between Metabolism and Limitless Health.’”

Well, this is a red flag factory.

I loved this article on Bernstein in Vienna. “Karajan radiated power when he conducted; Bernstein radiated love… Smiling, imploring, flirting, and commanding… he pulled you into the structural and dramatic logic of the piece.”

Look at how much they narrow this lane for the pedestrian crossing! Maybe two small cars could pass, but any larger vehicles are going to treat this as a one-at-a-time pinch point.

A former French military base, Vauban is a thriving neighbourhood of 5,500 residents connected to Freiburg town centre by bus and light rail. Next year, the EU will require cars to have buttons & dials -- not just touchscreens -- to get a top safety rating.

This is a great move. Drivers can fiddle with knobs & buttons without taking their eyes off the road, but they can't do that with touchscreens.

(Even better: Tesla will hate this)
Cars will need fewer screens and more buttons to earn five-star safety rating in Europe
Euro NCAP will release new testing guidelines in 2026.
