What a book, what a writer. Having adored About A son I knew I would love this too. 200 pages of such eloquent thoughtful prose. What starts with trying to find out what has happened to a woman missing for the last 13 years becomes so much more. A study in love and loss and dealing with grief.

Ooooh! Thanks @bertsbooks.bsky.social and especially all those who recommended this one

Heard about this via @trientertainment.bsky.social and Marina Hydes praise. Loved loved loved. Laughed out loud . If Adam Kay did the Army. This is the book.

Duolingo is now an utter shit show if you are on the free version. hearts replaced with energy that runs out regardless of whether you get answers right or not. Dutch course so short that is not vaguely worth the subscription.

The most wonderful emotional book I have read in quite some time. A story of aging, and coming to terms with it. A must read.

Have always loved @barristersecret.bsky.social on social, as well as their non fiction writing, so have very much enjoyed this first foray into fiction which is published in August this year! A murder trial narrated by two of the co-defendants, the prosecutor, one defence barrister and the judge. 👏🏻

What an extraordinary, heartbreaking, necessary show Adolescence is. The direction and choreography to coordinate these one take episodes is something else, as are the performances.

Loved the new Laura Shepherd Robinson novel which is coming out in July. A wonderful cat and mouse mystery set in Georgian London. Great characters and I’m obsessed with the luxury confectionery shop this is set in.

Loved this wonderful short ( 160 pages) novel by Andre Aciman. First of his I’d read but won’t be the last. A chance meeting between two 60 year olds at jury selection leads to a whirlwind flirtation and contemplation of a potential future together despite both being married.

This wonderful epistolary novel has been an utter joy from start to finish and am now bereft to have reached the end. Thank you so much to @sarramanning.bsky.social for the recommendation. She thought I’d love it and was absolutely right. It’s published in May. Highly recommend

I join the many other people who’ve been lucky enough to read this in advance of publication tomorrow in highly encouraging all to read
The story of a young mother in an abusive controlling marriage, her attempts to leave, and the barriers to anyone who has no independent financial means.

I don’t normally rave about a book when I’m only 50 pages in but this is EXCEPTIONAL. I mean, the opening and premise is every parents worst nightmare kind of stuff, however its written so brilliantly.
More to come when I finish it.

A 24 hour banger of a read! Loved this, @sarramanning.bsky.social . Can’t remember the last time I read a book in a day. Perfect winter day tonic.

Published in March and well worth a pre order!

My first read of 2025. Been consumed with life, tv, work etc so it’s taken me over a week to finish this. TJR fans will love it. Forbidden love amongst NASA trainee astronauts is your theme for this one!

A great day out to see @aiannucci.bsky.social ‘s stage adaptation of Dr Strangelove. Steve Coogan (and the rest of cast) are unbelievably, extraordinarily good. Only on for a few more weeks.

I’m now going to be my teenage kids worst nightmare of a paranoid mother having read @hannahbeckerman.bsky.social ‘s new novel! A proper twisty unpredictable page turner!

Whereas this is just rude, quite frankly!

Love this author, but am not a fan of short stories. I always got to the end of a short story feeling it had ended just as it should have been getting going.
However life events recently have meant for the first time I really understood the role a short story for me and I’ll be back for more.

It’s been nearly 5 years since I sold a book ( in an official capacity at least!) but every day I hope to get back to it in the future. So to still occasionally receive some of the most sought after proofs is beyond a joy. I love Hannah’s writing and can’t wait to read this.
