My fab art history seminar group spent today's session designing and pitching an exhibition on iconoclasm for an imaginary job interview to be a gallery curator. I love that one group selected this sculpture by Esther Strauß to be their exhibition's finale:

Big thank you from this young classicist (doing GCSE Latin AND Greek!) who fell asleep reading your book last night after a great evening. Her favourite part was the vase. 🏺

I know they spent a gajillion pounds on it, but it ALSO looks like a free Wordpress template. I can confidently say I could have built that with Wordpress and Divi (my day job before I started my PhD), and wouldn't have had this clusterfuck in the menu either.

Having the absolute time of my life at our local Minoan necropolis this afternoon.

There are 3 core journeys the homepage should facilitate: "So you want to go to Warwick" (applicants), "So you got into Warwick" (offer holders) and "So you're at Warwick" (current tudents). MAYBE "So you want to work at Warwick". Nobody has ever cared about Business, Alumni, News or Engagement. 2/2

Have I worked my way through even half of the books on my bedside table? No. Am I fully going to buy The Library of Ancient Wisdom by Selena Wisnom in @blackwelloxford.bsky.social today? Yes, yes I am.

Midnight in rural Crete - church bells, bonfires and fireworks everywhere - happy Easter!

Haha! This is great! Okay so I think we definitely met the tortoiseshell - this is me holding her last year, in fact!

I think we met one of their descendants!

Went to Phaistos, but there were cats so I only have cat photos not Phaistos photos. You can almost see a royal Megaron in the background, if that helps? Itwas cool, overcast and slightly rainy, which is the absolute best way to visit such an exposed site! 🏺

Barefoot in a sun hat but still firmly in woolly cardigan and long skirt on Plakias this afternoon. Looking forward to a chilly visit to Phaistos in a few days, I think.

Love the language of a journalist in 1904 describing the Snake Goddess's clothing as "ultra-fashionable robes, extravagantly décolletés and with horribly modern waists".

I got to visit the archives of Oxford’s Institute of Archaeology today and the amount of material they have there is extraordinary - papers, lantern slides, photographs, letters - a treasure trove. No prizes for guessing what I zeroed in on immediately!

Literally just sat down with my coffee to start this as it’s quite clearly too wet to go to the Bodleian this morning!

The absolute delight of coming downstairs for my tea in the morning to find the wood burning stove still alive & ready to be woken up with a new log.

Term is over, closing with a successful supervision, and now it’s time to eat too much sugar with my teens and my father in Dublin (my home town) for a few days!

Oxford this morning (the secret cemetery in Osney). Absolutely delightful to see so many dogs absolutely losing their minds.

The best kind of student feedback.

In love with these extraordinary cubist designs that were proposed for Edward VIII’s coinage in 1936, and fascinated by everything curator Shailendra Bhandare told us about the Ashmolean’s Money Talks exhibition yesterday on the Oxford Numismatic Society visit.
