It’s been lost in the tariff news but the fact that the U.S. government can accuse you of a crime and send you to an El Salvadoran prison without trial, is legitimately scarier than the most hyperbolic claims of fascism made by the left during the election.

This is horrifying. At the very least, these people need better identification- if a man approached me on the street at this close range, then touched me so suddenly! Put yourself in this woman’s shoes. Can you even imagine the fear?
This is completely terrifying, a huge violation of the first amendment, and part of the coopting of a distorted version of anti-semitism to justify persecution of people speaking out against Israel's genocide. And the broader pursuit of a police state.
Not sure if this has been shared here yet, but this is video of Rumeysa Ozturk's arrest posted by WCVB. It's terrifying.

Will the twist in season 3 of #Severance be that innies and outies switch and that work becomes the solace from the horrors of the outside world? At work you get waffles, your boss is an incredible dancer, and you have no idea that Trump exists and is trying to rename the equator?

Senator Mark Kelly was commander of the Space Shuttle. He flew four missions to space. He flew 39 combat missions in Iraq. He went to visit Ukraine for himself & is calling for its freedom to be defended.

So, Elon Musk brands him a "traitor".

I’m careful with language on this site.

Fuck Musk.

Watching this Trump/Vance/Zelensky exchange is so upsetting. Trump wanted this exchange to be seen by the American public but I’m im not sure it’s the reception he intended. Men yelling, “you have to be thankful” when they are exploiting a country under siege is infantile, pathetic, & disgusting.

5 former Secretaries of Defense call on Congress to exercise oversight responsibility on Trump-Hegseth firing of senior military leaders:

The "dismissals raise troubling questions about the administration’s desire to politicize the military and to remove legal constraints on the President’s power."

Is there a shortage or did he fire a bunch of air traffic controllers? Is firing people who are currently trained and available and then asking people to come out of retirement to help really the most efficient approach?

Raphael is a disabled Army veteran who worked at the VA in Seattle and played a critical role in processing servicemembers' disability benefits.

He's received nothing but stellar performance reviews.

Elon Musk fired him with ZERO justification. Help share his story.

This morning at Dept of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) HQ in DC as mandatory return to office began, this video played on loop for ~5 mins on screens throughout the building, per agency source.

Building staff couldn’t figure out how to turn it off so sent people to every floor to unplug TVs.

I’ve stopped shopping at Whole Foods (despite it being the most convenient store to my house), I cancelled my prime back in January. We’re cutting back even more on convenience to spend more of our dollars locally or not at all. We’re doing a lot of little things around here and we hope you can too.

This framing is their framing, and NYT took the bait. The correct and accurate framing is: “Deep cuts to medical research threatens progress on cancer and heart disease research, costs the economy $80B, and threatens 300,000 jobs across red and blue states”

This is horrific and more so because their motives are so transparent
🚨THEY’RE CUTTING BILLIONS IN SCIENCE & DISEASE FUNDING🚨

“I think it’s going to destroy research universities in the short term, and I don’t know after that,”

“dismantle the biomedical research system, stifle the development of new cures for disease, and rip treatments away from patients in need.”
Deep Cuts to Medical Research Funds Could Hobble University Budgets (Gift Article)
Grants from the National Institutes of Health come with additional money for overhead. Proposed funding cuts would leave colleges with large budget gaps.

Received a letter from POTUS today purporting to remove me as Commissioner and Chair of the FEC. There's a legal way to replace FEC commissioners-this isn't it. I've been so fortunate to serve the American people and stir up some good trouble along the way. That's not changing anytime soon.

Dear California farmers and Congressional representatives:
Trump has just literally thrown millions of gallons of #water away that farmers were counting on this summer, purely to brag that he could.
That #cawater cannot be captured or used now by anyone.
