The finished product! The crumb also probably impacted by pepperoni pieces - so it may not be the prettiest loaf, but it’s good! (And I am so glad I asked for a new bread knife for Christmas)

I’m kinda scared to look - but when it cools down, I’ll share it! I’m kinda surprised there was decent rise to it. Also trying to figure out how I’m gonna serve this - sandwiches? Dipping sauces? Who knows!!

The world is a dumpster fire but my house smells like fresh baked bread on a Sunday morning.

I’ve also made two loaves of classic sourdough in case this experiment is disgusting. I’ll report back.

A pepperoni pizza sourdough, swapping out some of the water for pizza sauce, with chopped pepperoni and Parmesan added during stretch and folds (I worried about the texture of mozz clumps when the bread cooled, and figured parm was a safe bet).

Yeah. I aspire to that…sort of… but my kitchen is small. If stuff isn’t on the counter, I don’t know where it’s going. I may have counter clutter but it’s clean.

Appliances out. As are jars of tea, a small jar of coffee grounds, cooking utensils. A candle or two. A small stack of mail I haven’t dealt with. Plenty of clean space to cook and work with, but a minamalist would hate it.

And some of nervousness comes from someone absolutely losing their shit on me once when I accidentally bumped into them on a crowded street, so consider maybe not being that person making difficult things more difficult for people.

It was decent. Kinda on brand for 2025 somehow but better than expected. Trying to just remember age is a privilege - and not get bogged down with the other feels.

This is the one I use. Please note (because I missed it the first time I baked these), the recipe is written for using instant yeast - you can use dry active yeast but you have to then activate it first. It’s noted at the end of the recipe but I had missed it!!

Unsurprisingly (probably), my freezer is packed with bread! But thanks for this reminder - I tucked a few cinnamon rolls in there to save for another time (and delivered some to neighbors!).
