With the acknowledgment that jelly/chrome nails are trending right now and there’s nothing new under the sun, I’m also proud that I came up with the idea of teal jelly + duo chrome = dish soap nails on my own! I usually just copy what I see others doing on social media

6. The Covenant of Water - if you love Pachinko and/or East of Eden, you’ll love this. It’s very slow and long and sad but also rich and satisfying and beautiful. Gave me lots to think about regarding marriage, family, loss, injustice, and progress.

5. Children of Time - ok, I absolutely am that sci fi reader because this book DRAGS in the middle 30% but the ending stayed with me and made me forgive the author for making this book 600 pages long.

4. All the Light We Cannot See - yes, I just now read this book for the first time. I’m apparently the last person to read it so there’s probably not much I can add to the conversation about it

3. Artificial Condition - Book 1 dragged in my opinion but the supporting characters in this one were interesting. Not to be that sci fi reader that’s like “just get through the first book then it’s worth it!” But each book is < 200 pgs so I will say that here

A timely reminder that feeling like the world is ending is a quintessential human experience, as is resilience

2. Everything Must Go - opposite the above, started this on Kindle but didn’t get into it until I picked it up on audio too. A review of the many subgenres of disaster narratives and existential eras in Western culture.

Fun fact: black holes are neither black, nor are they holes!

1. A Crack in Everything - I liked this book though I wish I hadn’t done audiobook for it because it didn’t “grab” me and I sort of got lost. I could see myself trying this one again. It follows the story of a series of scientists on the path to discovering and understanding black holes

Thank you. I will also use this reasoning to disclaim drake as my big three twin (devastating)
