It's cold, foggy, and there's frost on everything. Gorgeously surreal.

I vote that should be Saskatchewan's new tagline. "Gorgeously surreal" is way better than "land of living skies"

lots of ppl believe in the myth of meritocracy. "if it's successful, it must be good!"

but, just for starters, why were the Beatles successful in a way Ray Charles was not? was that meritocracy? or did it have something to do with racism? 1
What we think about Sgt Pepper is less important than what people thought in ‘67: HOLY SHIT!

The internet runs on contrarianism, reification of opinion, and presentism.

But the overwhelming esteem for Pepper—lasting at least until 2000—suggests that it is “one of The Beatles‘ best albums.“
birth of a nation is actually bad. Sgt. Pepper is wildly overrated, and is not even one of the Beatles best records, much less one of the best albums of all time. (it's got some good tracks though.)

Two questions to ask about every abstraction, and to answer in every pull request introducing an abstraction:

1. What does this make:
- possible?
- practical?
- easy?
2. At what expense?

OK, if we're talking "cult classic" then I'm gonna go with Bubba Ho-Tep, which Bruce Campbell plays an aged Elvis Presley, who was secretly undercover with the witness protection program, and goes against an ancient evil partnering with JFK in a retirement home.
