'Sarah Black' is an exaggerated me but still very much ME & not a fiction, and they erase me every time they do this.

I don't especially like art deco. And I hate that pea green. The bathroom as it was with those insane asylum walls? Not my thing at all. But at least it had definition.

The windowsill aside, there's no break in that monstrosity of a bathroom. It's all negative space to get lost in. Imagine a dark skirting round the floor edges, just to break it up. Isn't that better?

You can go deep color, but you have to balance it otherwise it'll eat the room.

Look how much work the door and border are doing here. Then imagine if they were blue too with that dark floor and no rug. It'd go from bold-but-light breakfast dining to oppressive.

Texture is something I'm thinking about a lot.

I like deep greens and inky blues, but they can be overpowering and you have to work deliberately with them.

White is just stark.

But if you go off-white just a little, you can let the room work for itself without shouting.

I'd probably go more subtle on the design. Actually really like the Paisley there but usually I'm not a fan, big repeating patterns bug me. If I get something like this it's neutral enough to work in the day letting the texture do the work, but has potential for a little [sex noises] at night.

Speaking of, I'm wary of metallic wallpaper because it's dangerously close to cheap and tacky, but I do like the way it plays with the light in Lizzie's Bar.

Maybe just in a recess, or one small accent wall.
