I went to Beckley, WV—the epicenter of the Appalachian black lung crisis—for a public hearing on a proposed federal rule to limit silica dust exposure in the mines. Miners and advocates spoke for hours. It got intense.

People claim to want to end homelessness, but oppose rent control, right to counsel, & even good-cause eviction legislation. We tenants have to understand this is straight up class struggle, & what we have is us—organizing, fighting, & winning. None of these motherfuckers are going to do it for us.
