My favorite unhinged conspiracy theory is that we’re living in a timeline that some time traveler tinkered with for a stupid reason and now the whole thing is a horror show. Like “let’s make Obama the president 10 years earlier and accelerate the positive change timeline!” And now…this.

He already suspended asylum claims and refugee resettlement, and revoked Temporary Protected Status for millions. My prediction is that in the next year, he will freeze naturalization and the citizenship process altogether “while we decide who truly deserves citizenship.”

I read How Civil Wars Start when it came out in 2022 and I just need to say: this is going to suck.

WHY DOES HE ALWAYS DO DUMB THINGS AT 8PM ON SATURDAY. I have to preach in like 14 hours and you’re out here kicking off WWIII?

I’m not surprised at the shock coming from Trump supporters saying “we didn’t want THIS!”

For generations, politicians made wild and empty promises. So folks started voting based on vibes, not policy proposals. A politician who comes out the gate doing exactly what he said he would IS surprising.

I can tell which Christians spent their entire lives in a mainline Protestant church simply by observing how surprised they are when Fundies/Evangelicals do something unhinged.

And I’m over here like “WE TRIED TO WARN YOU.”

The most interesting part of living through a transition from democracy to fascism is realizing that the “we didn’t know!” excuses used throughout history after the crimes of fascist leaders were revealed were absolute bullshit.

They knew. They all fucking knew.

We all know.

I live 250+ miles from my parents, and for YEARS my Mother’s Day gifts fell flat. After a conversation about sending a nice meal via DoorDash that felt like pulling teeth, I said “welp” and gave in. I used it to send her favorite snacks from the store instead, and she’s DELIGHTED.

My anxious little lizard brain is like “See! I told you!!!”

Despite having spent large chunks of his life in Peru and Rome, Pope Leo XIV was born and raised in Chicago, which means:

The Pope knows what Malort is.

Today I learned the refugee resettlement agency I volunteer with is closing their office in my city due to a lack of funds - which means dozens of refugees are losing the support system and services they were promised.

I am THIS close to calling down curses like Elisha.

Does anyone else get the ick when you see folks write “Happy birthday!! 🎉 Have a great day!” on the FB timeline of someone who’s been dead for years?

Read the (virtual) room, my dude.

Dear Canada:
Thank you for doing what we couldn’t figure out last year. Keep going. Fight the orange.

It’s April 26th, and every resident of Michigan is staring at their winter/snow gear, wondering if it’s safe to put away yet.

We all know the answer is “lol, no” but we think it anyway.

Me: am I finally working with a somewhat regulated nervous system and practicing radical acceptance, or did something break?

VP Vance getting rejected by the Pope, who sent a delegate to lecture him on compassion instead, is precisely the pick-me-up I needed this Holy Week.

Why is the Republican Party so dedicated to making me afraid of my neighbors?
April 18, 2025 at 5:58 PM
One thing I haven’t seen anyone talk about: in January, President Trump issued an executive order that would prevent birthright citizenship for people born in the US to two undocumented parents. Meanwhile, Congress is working on the SAVE Act, which requires proof of citizenship to vote.

That feeling when you have to explain to your therapist how fucking weird it is when your anxiety disorder thoughts about a fascist dictatorship taking hold in the US and coming after the people you love are no longer anxiety disorder thoughts, but reality.

Now my anxiety brain is like:
