Went to a #NoKings Rally in a SoCal town today. Was inspired by a friend at work who posted herself and her mom at a previous rally and also, by Timothy Snyder who, in "On Tyranny," chapter 13, talked about practicing corporeal politics - getting out there, marching, meeting people, etc.

Wanted to show you the Tsardust Memories sample that I got with my herb order from Penseys. 😄

Here's their site if you are interested in spices.

It's a short, simple and to-the-point book written recently. I think we should all have a copy with us (the paperback version is quite small). If a friend or family can't afford one and you can, get them a copy. Every young person who is able to read it, should read it.

Happy Barack Obama Day! Classy, intelligent, literate, articulate, compassionate president, with a classy, loving family. Miss having him in the White House!

I've seen advice where it says to sit down when there are violent inciters about. BUT this also makes a lot of sense.

Stay safe out there!

Loving the coat from Undermine (a bit shabby but it works). Trying to go for a Victorian walking outfit look, using the parasols. Sorry, the Sunfury orbs sort of mess up the look 😕.

Transmogging in World of Warcraft.

Taking advantage of the free mogging during Trial of Style, showing off the more ethereal looks, and choosing environments where I think they fit.

My attempt a creating the kind of Japanese plate I'd get as a child (and uhh, as a grown-up too, since my mom did this while I lived with her as an adult). BUT my version is a lot SLOPPIER. Mound of rice, fried pork chop, salad with salt and spicy ginger-orange carrots.

Years ago, my mom lived in a nice house out in Henderson with a fairly large back yard that faced west. I caught the image of some bamboo foliage against the bright early evening sky while standing out there. I like the interplay of the shadow-like foliage w/ the bright background.

Very important book in this moment, by Prof. Timothy Snyder. Been carrying around and reading the original for awhile & just got the graphic version week before last. Posting a pic of the same (or similar) pages from the 2 books. Very short read. Highly recommend for anyone who likes #democracy.

While not new photos, I thought I'd post these as it's a lovely and simple salad (or snack) w/ a few variations: Caprese Salad.

The more traditional (2 angles shown), the bite size version and a grilled-cheese sandwich version (which I recommend with a balsamic and olive oil dipping sauce).

My old apartment complex had beautiful landscaping. (Place was torn down during the housing-boom in SoCal in the mid 2000s to build townhomes or condos or something😞). Before we moved, I took a walk & took a lot of photos. I found this treasure near the back of the complex.

I like photos of shadows and reflections. They can look magical.

This diagram is something posted by Robert Reich.

It has nothing to do with "saving money" and people are so damn stupid and selfish that they somehow think what's happening is OK. It's NOT OK. It's about how the rich are controlling things to benefit themselves.

Made this last week, but forgot to post. My dad used to make chili, and feed it to us like this. He simply called it "Chili Dinner." Only recently did I find out that it was a variation on an existing dish often called "Frito Pie" or "Frito Chili Pie." In remembrance of dad.

From Timothy Snyder's book, "On Tyranny." This chapter deals with language & propaganda. Please, just go get it. It's very small, not too expensive & very important. You can carry it & read it when you can.

This is a tiny book and very important. I am reading it now.

I mean no disrespect to Prof. Snyder by including a snippet of the book. It was written in 2017. I think he, among other people, knew what the election of 2016 could lead to. Too many didn't or didn't care, or wanted this.

I don't have very many posts, but Bluesky Insights pulled out some statistics and other information. Apparently, there are some of my most-used words. I wonder if it counts my comments as well. As far as I know these could be HALF the words I used in all of my original posts. 😁

Love many different kinds but one of the simple ones I love is Caprese salad, tho I tend to eat it CHOPPED rather than arranged. I use string cheese cut up (it's just mozzerella after all), fresh basil, grape tomatoes, balsamic vinegar, extra-virgin olive oil & salt + pepper. (Pic shows fancy one).

Can't have pets in our apartment (or if we can, can't really afford to give them a good and healthy life) but needed comfort. In my last shopping trip to Daiso, I saw THIS big guy and decided to splurge, tho felt a bit guilty for spending (But $12.50 for LARGE plushie isn't too bad).
