Now that people are here: I'm a Trekkie, Whovian, book nerd, knitter/crocheter, sewist, occasional gardener, frequent baker, and undiagnosed but pretty sure there's some ADHD at the VERY least (I have more interests and minor hobbies than I've listed).
Legitimately I used to avoid going to multiple stores unless the first one wag out of something. Now I stand in grocery store 1 checking if the sales are better at store 2 (on their app) as I decide what to put in my cart.

Thanks! I've found the same, but I don't like things changing/moving, it throws me off.

One time I broke my phone so that it was working but I couldn't see the screen and because of muscle memory I was able to still play my audiobook from it until I could get it sorted 😂.

Right? It's with you all the time, you should be able to make it look and sound how you want! (I get very annoyed about the clock display and lock screen changing all the time with updates.

I haven't seen any of the Yellowstone stuff but what I have seen feels like it absolutely tracks with this guy's post. Very elite white man wealth -coded.

The TNG comm badge is my texting notification. I've got a sound that just sounds like regular old wall phone for my ring tone. I mostly haven't j heard either one of these in a decade, but I've used Zedge to put them on every new phone if I can't figure it out otherwise.

I tried telling this to my teenage niece last year: owning the music is better than renting a service.

*better hope

Although yes, also this requires house space for an extra freezer.
October 28, 2025 at 7:41 PM
Yup, this. Sometimes several people in a group will go in on a large animal and theoretically they're getting better meat at a lower cost. But it's all about having a chest freezer and you better house you don't lose power and it doesn't break.

I don't think they'd every call someone "a fatty" (derogatory), and while this is just one line from everything she says here, I feel like it's SO demonstrative of her not even being able to craft a joke that doesn't punch down.

Oops, forgot the prompt! Without downloading any new pictures, what is it like to date you?

There's a kid in our neighborhood and their parents are SO... Extra over the top apologetic and it makes me feel so bad for the kid to have to hear their own parents like that.

This l happened while going door to door AND once I make it home/am distributing, and it's like no, kid is fine! Candy!

I think the LD writers are SO GOOD at knowing exactly what they mean to do in a story/episode, too. I think they need that focus in the short format, but SNW should have it too. (And I'm looking forward to what Tawny Newsome does with more trek.)

(The s3 nostalgia-wank had me sighing and rolling my eyes so frequently. Oh look, there's a ship YOU recognize but the characters would have no reason to know about! Oh doesn't the old theme just make YOU feel feelings!? EFF OFF AND GIVE ME SOMETHING NEW AND GOOD.)
October 22, 2025 at 2:10 AM
I stand on my theory that if they wanted to do a single season arc for they needed to plan it out & pace it better. They really struggle with that. S3 kind of does the thing I think could have helped S2: have 2 arcs sequentially leading from 1st to 2nd with threads running through both.

This method got me through high school. 😅

Fair, I recall they were closing a local one, which was a little sad because they were the big mall chain department store whose clothes fit me best, but I hadn't been in one in like a decade. So I could hardly expect them to stay open for me. 🤣
October 16, 2025 at 9:50 PM
Sears still exists? (only half kidding)
October 16, 2025 at 9:39 PM
Quite honestly, this is a critique I have of our local school system too. They a expect us to know 'that's just how it's done' about things we have no context for.

And I recognize it because part of my job is to be a jargon translator.

I don't know how to defeat airport sign jargon, though.

Just here to say that this is how I got started reading your books, threads first, books second!

And I started with Wizard's Guide (even though I also enjoy horror at times) because I enjoy a good sourdough colony.

For sure this is not an indictment of all over folks! But I think my parents tried to simply raise me with the belief of everybody being equal (it was the "I don't see race" era) so I didn't get the context or the details.
Now we're trying to give my kid a better knowledge of how recent this all was
