During the break at sprint dogs on the weekend, I found some birds to photograph - like this very handsome Australian wood duck, who seemed to have a strong opinion 😆

Another photo of my grand-dog, Lawson, and the legs of the very tall Nic (my future son-in-law) 😆
BTW, anyone interested can follow Lawson on Instagram. He's lawson_the_shiba there.

I went to a dog event yesterday and my grand dog, Lawson, was there living his best life.
So good to meet all the friendly doggos. A fun time.

A red-necked stint looking for food in the foam from the toxic algal bloom that has been impacting Gulf St Vincent for many months. I've been worried about the waders returning from overseas but so far there doesn't seem to be an impact.

More great clouds at Bald Hill Beach from last weekend.

This big bruiser of a euro (wallaroo) looks like he's had some fights in his time.

Crazy busy at work with an insane deadline (and I don't normally work on Fridays) ... but here are some nice calming pelicans.

Beautiful ethereal sky at Bald Hill Beach ... and a caspian tern.

Bar-tailed godwits at Bald Hill Beach.
These are my favourite shorebirds - with their ridiculous beaks 😆
They hold the world record for non-stop long-distance flight
with one recorded taking 11 days to fly 13,500km from Alaska to Tasmania. And they do that trip twice each year!

Biiiiiig stretch!

I almost forgot to have a little brag 🙂
This photo of mine (entitled 'Risky business') achieved a 'Commended' award in the 2025 BirdLife Australia Photography Awards in the Human Impact category.

Dirty-looking foam at Bald Hill Beach on Sunday, presumably due to the toxic algal bloom that has been a huge problem along our coastline for several months. I didn't see any dead creatures this time (but the cynic in me wondered if there was anything left to kill).

More kangaroos at Bald Hill Beach.
