This weekend was glorious.

Squeaked out baking in an oven that was sort of heating consistently.

May every weekend through the end of the year be this refreshing.

Not pictured:
Sorted closets
Greenery going up for the end of the year festivities

2 large and 3 small sourdough loaves. The flat loaf in the front on the left was when the oven was dropping temperature this morning. It got itself together for the other bakes. Will get it checked out this week, but the baking for the week is done! A mostly asleep black and white tuxedo cat on a cat tower overlooking the patio and trees. Evening shot leaving the Portland Japanese Gardens tonight after an interesting Sake presentation and tasting. The second pizza of The Great Pizza Dough Taste Test. Yesterday was the family recipe I grew up with, and today was a sourdough crust that we are trying for the first time.

A day well spent

A large woven oval basket circa 2000 from Poland when we were stationed in Germany has become the latest cat snuggle place. 2 cats are in the basket, one large black fluffy cat is curled up over just half on the right, his back is against the right end and his feet and head are past the woven handle. A dainty black and white tuxedo cat is sitting on her 1/3 on a red soft blanket staring off into the distance with intention, white whiskers shining in the light from the window.

Waking to a gorgoeous morning and heading out to wander today around what is not at all a “war ravaged” city.

Yesterday from at the Japanese Gardens for a presentation and inspiration to help a friend with their shrubbery + a bonus shot of the trees on the way down the hill:
A carefully tended Japanese Maple with good space to see through the branches to what is behind it. A Japanese Holly shaped and maintained. We were looking at the balance and proportion of trunk to greenery. Big trees reaching up to a clear blue sky with sun filtering through the leaves.

Profiles in cat

She is apparently glad I’m home from traveling & stayed on my legs for the last 2 hours.

As I started to post about how long she was under the comforter she left for the cat table by the window because of course she did.

I’m free! (I loved every second)
There is a cat under this comforter, draped across and around my ankles. A black cat with white paws showing turns to the camera showing her white chin, throat, and whiskers after crawling out from under my comforter. This expression… I don’t know. I’m just glad I got such a long snuggle!

I woke up too early but 🤷🏻‍♀️ it’s clearly nap time.

We have a lot to do to take care of our patients, our communities, and ourselves during the chaos.
Oh to be a cat sleeping with such comfort and security… even when on a perch. A fuzzy black cat sound asleep at the end of a high cat shelf, one paw holding the edge, half his face off the end.
