Which brings me to another point for this thread: batteries for electric power don't have to be traditional batteries. There are other storage methods, such as pumped-storage hydroelectricity. Heck, you can even do solar thermal energy which is solar without the photovoltaics.

I agree with China being bad in terms of human rights, but nothing I've found says Cobalt is used in solar panels (photovoltaic cells). You're thinking of batteries.
