Back in October 2023, when Bluesky was a fledgling invite-only network, I set up the account @vonderleyen.bsky.social for a few reasons (and I wrote about the experiment then). First, it seemed like a...

After Spain activated the #EUCivilProtection Mechanism in response to the devastating floods, Portugal and France swiftly stepped in.

Over 150 team members and 60 vehicles worked tirelessly with Spanish authorities to clear debris, pump water, and help communities recover.

Excellent article on how disaster relief works in the US, in the wake of recent hurricanes. Good information also prevents harmful misinformation from spreading during such events.

I saw the Hurricane Helene response up close. This is how disaster relief actually works.
Volunteers, not FEMA, are the bedrock of disaster response. How do we best support them?

A solemn anniversary. It's 10 years since the start of Ukraine's Euromaidan protests that became the Revolution of Dignity. Ukraine's struggle to break free of Russia's grasp continues today, as it remembers the Heavenly Hundred slain in Kyiv and the 1000s killed in Russia's war.

Wonderful title for this article on the Italian daily Il Post, on the fortunes of the Disney 1973 movie Robin Hood. The title refers to the song which in original said ”Oh-de-lally oh-de-lally” and in Italian became an iconic ”urca urca tirulero”

Uno dei classici Disney più amati, uscito 50 anni fa, fu realizzato recuperando scene, personaggi e musiche dai film precedenti

Aid items, transported via DG ECHO’s latest EU humanitarian air bridge operation, have entered #Gaza through the Rafah border crossing.

Thanks to the coordination with UNICEF and our humanitarian partners on the ground, we are ensuring deliveries reach those who need it most.
